Getting started

Do documents from my home country need attestation for DMCC?

Corporate and legal documents issued abroad, such as a parent company's certificate or a power of attorney, usually do. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so the document is certified by the issuing country's foreign ministry, then by the UAE embassy or consulate there, and finally by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Start this early, because it often sets the pace of the whole file.

How do I choose the licence activities for a DMCC company?

Start from what you will actually invoice for, because DMCC licenses specific activities and your list drives the approvals, the office type and sometimes the capital. Choosing too narrowly means amending the licence later; choosing regulated activities you do not need adds approvals and time. We map your business to the activity list before you apply.

How long does DMCC setup take?

Usually 2–4 weeks after KYC approval. DMCC reviews every shareholder and director, and some activities need extra approvals, which can add time.

Do I need to travel to Dubai?

Not to form the company. You will need to travel for a residence visa, because the medical test and biometrics happen in the UAE. Most banks also ask to meet at least one signatory.

What is qualifying income?

Mainly income from qualifying activities with other free zone persons, and some listed activities with any customer, such as certain trading and holding activities. Income from sales to mainland UAE customers is often non-qualifying. Your specialist maps your revenue against the rules before you commit.

Can a DMCC company get Small Business Relief?

No, not while it is a Qualifying Free Zone Person, because the law excludes them. A DMCC company that is not a Qualifying Free Zone Person can elect Small Business Relief if revenue stays at or below AED 3,000,000.

Can I get a residence visa through my DMCC company?

Yes. A flexi-desk usually carries a small visa quota, and a larger office gives more. Visa processing starts after the licence and establishment card are issued.

What if you cannot set up my company?

If we cannot incorporate your company, we refund the service fee (minus courier costs). We check your activity and ownership against DMCC rules before you pay.

Pricing & payment

How much does a DMCC company cost with OCC?

From US$4,290 all-in for year 1, with DMCC registration and licence fees included. Year 2 renews from US$3,090. Visas, larger offices and audit fees depend on your choices, and we quote them before you pay.

Are there hidden fees?

No. Your quote itemises the DMCC fees, the office package and our service fee. Visa, medical and Emirates ID costs, and the annual audit, are listed separately so you can plan for them.

Why are visa costs not in the DMCC package price?

Because they depend on how many people you sponsor and change per person: each residence visa has its own government, medical and Emirates ID costs. The office you lease also sets how many visas you can request. We quote visas per person once you know your team.

Banking

What will a UAE bank ask a new DMCC company for?

The trade licence, memorandum and articles, share certificate, office lease or flexi-desk agreement, and the owners' passports. Most banks also want at least one signatory with a UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, plus contracts or invoices that show real business. A company that has only just been licensed should expect questions about expected turnover and counterparties.

Business account support

Can you open a UAE bank account?

We introduce you to suitable UAE banks or payment institutions and prepare the application. The bank decides. A residence visa, a real office and clear contracts improve your chances.

Compliance

Does my DMCC company pay corporate tax?

It can pay 0% on qualifying income if it meets the Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions: adequate substance in the zone, qualifying activities, audited accounts and non-qualifying revenue below the de minimis limit. Otherwise the standard rate is 0% up to AED 375,000 of taxable income and 9% above it.

When must a new DMCC company register for UAE corporate tax?

Generally within 3 months of incorporation, even if it expects to pay nothing (confirm your date with your specialist). Late registration carries an AED 10,000 penalty, which the Federal Tax Authority may waive if the first tax return is filed within 7 months after the first tax period ends. We register the company as part of setup.

Is an audit required?

Yes. DMCC requires annual audited financial statements from an approved auditor, and a Qualifying Free Zone Person must have audited accounts for corporate tax too.

Do I still file economic substance reports?

No, not for recent years. The UAE ended economic substance reporting for financial years starting on or after 1 January 2023. Corporate tax substance tests still apply if you want the 0% qualifying rate.

After incorporation

What documents does DMCC need from shareholders and directors?

A passport copy and a recent proof of address for each shareholder, director, manager and beneficial owner, plus a short business description for the activities you choose. Some activities need extra documents, such as a business plan or proof of experience. A corporate shareholder also provides its registry documents and a board resolution, legalised for use in the UAE.

What does the DMCC year-2 renewal cover?

From US$3,090 on Starter, covering the licence renewal, the standard office package and our compliance service. The annual audit, visa renewals and any larger office are separate lines, because they depend on your company. We send the renewal with every line priced before the licence expiry date.

Renew & pay

What if my DMCC trade licence expires before I renew it?

The company falls out of good standing: visa renewals and new visas are blocked, banks may restrict the account, and DMCC applies its own late fees (confirm current amounts with your specialist). Renewal also needs the lease and the latest audited accounts in order, so we start the renewal well before the expiry date.

How do I close a DMCC company?

Cancel all employee visas, settle liabilities and the lease, close the bank account and apply to DMCC for deregistration. You also deregister the company from corporate tax, and from VAT if registered, with the Federal Tax Authority, filing any final returns. Closing properly avoids fines that keep building on an inactive licence.
