My shareholder is a foreign company. Do its documents need legalising?

Last updated: Oct 21, 2026, 17:46 (UTC+08:00)

Usually yes. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a foreign company's certificate, register extract or board resolution is certified by its home country's foreign ministry, then by the UAE embassy there, and then by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We tell you exactly which documents need this before you start.

Ask OCC is an AI assistant, not a person. Answers are written by an AI model from Anthropic (Claude), using our published prices and facts, and it can make mistakes. Answers are general information, not legal or tax advice. Please do not share passport, bank or card details; we remove numbers that look like them. We store chats, with those numbers removed, for 30 days, or 24 months if you send us an enquiry.
