Why do I need a resident director?

Last updated: Oct 24, 2026, 15:06 (UTC+08:00)

The Companies Act requires at least one director who is ordinarily resident in Singapore. A professional resident director is disclosed to ACRA as a nominee and does not run or own your company. You stay a director and keep control of the shares and the bank account.

Answers are general information, not legal or tax advice. Please do not share passport, bank or card details; we remove numbers that look like them. We store chats, with those numbers removed, for 30 days, or 24 months if you send us an enquiry.
