Why do I need a bank before the Luxembourg company exists?

Last updated: Oct 21, 2026, 17:46 (UTC+08:00)

Because the S.à r.l.'s share capital must be fully paid in when the company is formed, so a bank has to receive it first. The bank then confirms the payment for the notary. Opening this capital account is often the step that takes longest, so we start the bank file as soon as your KYC is approved.

Ask OCC is an AI assistant, not a person. Answers are written by an AI model from Anthropic (Claude), using our published prices and facts, and it can make mistakes. Answers are general information, not legal or tax advice. Please do not share passport, bank or card details; we remove numbers that look like them. We store chats, with those numbers removed, for 30 days, or 24 months if you send us an enquiry. Our staff may read them to improve answers and follow up on your interest; you can object at any time.
