Do I need to tell ASIC when shares are issued or transferred?

Last updated: Oct 21, 2026, 17:46 (UTC+08:00)

Yes. Changes to the share structure and to the members of a proprietary company are notified to ASIC within 28 days, and the company updates its own register. If the company owns land in Australia, state duties can apply to a transfer (confirm with your specialist).

Ask OCC is an AI assistant, not a person. Answers are written by an AI model from Anthropic (Claude), using our published prices and facts, and it can make mistakes. Answers are general information, not legal or tax advice. Please do not share passport, bank or card details; we remove numbers that look like them. We store chats, with those numbers removed, for 30 days, or 24 months if you send us an enquiry.
